Optimizing the patient journey in von Willebrand disease: Experiences and learnings as the navigator

WFH, 36th Annual Congress, April 21–24, 2024

Watch the full video recording of the CSL Behring symposium held on April 23, 2024. Featuring a multidisciplinary faculty of experts, this symposium aimed to be inspirational for the audience, to shorten the route to diagnosis of and optimize the care for patients with VWD.

In this interactive session, Nicola Curry (haematologist, UK), Heleen Eising (gynecologist, The Netherlands), Julia Rauscher (patient advocate, Austria), and Sunny Maini (patient advocate, UK), discussed the real-life experiences of stakeholders navigating the von Willebrand disease (VWD) diagnosis and care pathways.

To open the symposium, Nicola Curry presented the patient journey in von Willebrand disease. The faculty then presented sessions which discussed navigating the route to diagnosis, mapping the maze of treatment pathways and what lies ahead with options to optimize the patient journey for von Willebrand disease patients.

Featuring the music of Jaco Benckhuijsen and the Dutch String Collective, and a reading of the poem by Ramsey Nasr, this symposium explores the impact of language as a potential barrier in the diagnosis pathway and introduces the concept of narrative medicine.
